Councilman Anthony L. Mattox Jr.

I grew up on Rushleigh Road and went to Oxford Elementary and Monticello Middle Schools in the Noble Neighborhood. I graduated from Cleveland Heights Highschool in the Class of 2000. I did so having been elected Class President 4 years in a row. One of only a handful of students to achieve this in the schools history. I met my wife, Tiffany at Heights High (Class of 2022) and we raise our children here in the district. Two of our children are Heights High Alum with the other two on the way. I raised my children just 4 houses down from my parents on Rushleigh Road until late 2017 when we moved to Scarborough Road.

I have been Pastoring The Empowerment Church in East Cleveland for 18 years. A church my wife and I started in our living room with 5 people. We serve the surrounding area and assist thousands through outreach, education, evangelism and advocacy. I have spent my ministry time in the East Cleveland, Cleveland Heights, and surrounding areas working towards positive change. I also serve as the Chaplain for the East Cleveland Democratic Club as well as for the United States Marshals Program with Strong Hands United fighting Human Trafficking in Northeast Ohio.

I spent 10 years working in the corporate office of this areas largest bank, KeyBank. I served as a Corporate Trainer,  and Employee Engagement Coordinator overseeing training, leadership and development, as well as system integration. I understand Municipal Finance, Foreclosures, Bankruptcy, Bank owned properties, repossessions, mortgages, Commercial Business, Six Sigma, Underwriting, Organizational Leadership and a host of other segments. I was assigned to the State of Ohio and several areas across the country. In addition, I created a Consulting Company called Lead Up. I travel the country helping organizations in the area of Strategy, Organizational Leadership, Structure, Training & Development, Vision and Launching.

I am a former Board Member of Future Heights from 2020-2022. During my time there, I worked to engage residents and help foster growth, unity and sustainability. I am also a current Board member of Light of Life Church in Manassas, VA. My desire is to see areas where I grew up such as the Noble Area become just as vibrant as the other parts of our community. I believe through collaboration, partnership and engagement, we can lift every area of our community.
